With a shift from hotter to colder or warmer to cooler months, a change in the climate has an effect on your skin. Your skincare routine should change with the seasons.  With these ABC’s, switching up your regimen should be effortless:

Reset with a Facial Treatment

Deeply cleanse, remove summer buildup and create a refreshed foundation for the cooler temperatures.  Great treatments you may want to consider for this are our Hydrafacial or DiamondGlow facial.  A chemical peel is also a great option to refresh the skin.

Rethink your Cleanser

It’s time to switch to a cream cleanser or a cleansing oil for nourishment and hydration and adjust the type of exfoliant you’re using. During the winter months, a gentle exfoliation is recommended to slough off dry, flakey skin.  We can help you discover the balance between getting a thorough cleanse while not stripping your skin of natural oils.

Incorporate a Vitamin C Serum and Retinol

Consider incorporating an antioxidant rich Vitamin C serum in the morning and combining it with a retinol at night.  Using a Vitamin C serum in the morning after you cleanse (prior to moisturizing) can help even out your skin tone from the summer sun and brighten up signs of sun damage.  A retinol at night will help increase your cell turnover rate, promote collagen production and prevent premature skin aging. Together, Vitamin C and A (retinol) are the ultimate, powerhouse team of anti-agers.

Hydrate for Radiance

Your skin’s hydration needs are going to increase during cooler months. Richer moisturizers with ingredients like hyaluronic acid and ceramides will help lock in moisture and create a protective barrier against the winter elements.

Add a Mask

Incorporate a hydrating face mask into your weekly routine for an added boost of hydration and nourishment.

Protection

Lastly, do not forget your sunscreen!  It is essential to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF) all year round.  During the winter months, even when we cannot see the sun, the damaging UVA (A for aging) and UVB (B for burning) rays are still there damaging our skin.
